As a data collector, you enter information into a database and ensure that your data collection sources are accurate. Data collection is gathering and measuring information on variables of interest, in an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research questions and evaluate outcomes. At Appen, we are working with our customers to decrease bias, and strive for inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) that works for everyone. In this way, we can make sure that Artificial Intelligence performs equally well for all people.
In this project, the App collects speech data in Swedish and English to train and develop artificial intelligence algorithms that will be used to improve speech recognition technology.
We are looking for individuals in Sweden who want to read and record short prompts using our App Appen Mobile.
Project Description:
The assignment contains a total of 1000 short sentences that you must read on a screen and record using the Appen Mobile app. You only need to follow the sentences that are written in Swedish, you do not need to create your own sentences.
- Example of a sentence you would need to read: "Okay Alexa, I need directions to work"
Duration of Task:
Each sentence takes an average of 3-6 seconds. In total, for the 1000 recordings, you should plan 5 hours. Of course, we recommend that you take breaks and we give you at least 7 days to record your session.

REQUIREMENTS
- Have a newer smartphone
- The iOS device must be iPhone 8 or later
- Android devices must be 2017 or newer
- Must have Swedish and English as a mother tongue and be a resident of Sweden
- Ability to record in a very quiet indoor environment, free from all background noise
