Language Expert for Faroese

TELUS International is looking for Language Expert to provide linguistic support for TTS and SR engine development related work. Please find the details of this opportunity in the following.

Task description: As a Language Expert, you will receive the tasks related to Faroese language and guidelines from us, including but not limited to the follows:

• Providing POS (Parts of Speech) information of new words to be added in the lexicon.
• Providing phonetic transcription of words or short expressions.
• Providing transcription of short audios, to be used for speech recognition comparison.
• Evaluating speech recognition results and providing feedback.
• Handle text normalization rules. 

• Native speaker of Faroese language
• Full working proficiency in English
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Linguistics (background on phonetics is preferred)
• Access to a computer and stable internet connection
• Over 18 years old. 

Assessment: An English proficiency test and an interview with our linguistic project manager will be administered as part of the screening for this project. 

Estimated start date: Immediately

Estimated workload: 10-20 hours per week

Project duration: until 15th of June

Compensation:

• 47 USD per hour
