DESCRIPTION
Local Cuisine Classification for Global Food Delivery — Remote (Lithuania)
Are you a native Lithuanian speaker with a strong understanding of local food and solid English comprehension? Welo Data is seeking contributors for a global food delivery project.
In this freelance role, you will review restaurant menu items written in Lithuanian and classify them using a standardized taxonomy in Americanized English. Your cultural knowledge and linguistic skills will directly help enhance food category recognition across diverse global markets.
What You Will Do
- Read & Review: Analyze the name, category, and description of menu items written in Lithuanian
- Confirm Context: Check the item photo (if available) to visually verify the food type.
- Classify (Dish Label): Assign the most accurate Dish Label from an English-language taxonomy dropdown (e.g., searching keywords like "pasta" or "grilled chicken").
- Categorize (Course Label): Select the appropriate Course Label in English (e.g., Appetizer, Main Course, Side Dish, Dessert, Beverage, Other).
- Add Contextual Notes: Provide a brief note for any items that seem unclear, ambiguous, or highly localized to ensure no data row is left blank.
Project Details

- Duration: 1–2 hours total (up to a maximum of 10 hours)
- Job Type: Freelance / Independent Contractor
- Location: Remote (Must be based in Lithuania)
- Language: Lithuanian & English Comprehension
- Pay Rate: 7.00$ (per hour)
What We’re Looking For
- Linguistic Background: Native Lithuanian speaker currently based in Lithuania
- English Comprehension: Strong ability to confidently navigate, read, and select from taxonomy options written in Americanized English.
- Cultural Expertise: Deep familiarity with Lithuanian restaurant menus, local cuisine terminology, and regional ingredients.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using a web browser to navigate structured data entry tasks.
- Detail-Oriented: A commitment to providing consistent, highly accurate, and quality work.
- Prompt Availability: Ability to complete the assignment within 1–2 business days after receiving system access.
